Benicia High has been a great experience! There is a diverse group of students, courses offered and clubs to join. There is something for everyone- college track or otherwise. The administration is responsive and the faculty are engaging.
Some improvements can be made in the counseling department as far as communication and better access to important information/opportunities.

I recently graduation from Benicia High School after completing my education exclusively in BUSD schools. I really enjoyed my time in school due to the great push towards academic excellence, the fantastic and award winning preforming arts programs, and the community that supports the school system so abundantly. However, I would like to see the district put more time and effort into students who are falling behind and have more sympathy for students who learn differently. One of my siblings had to be pulled out of the district and home schooled because they wouldn't give them any extra help until they were FOUR YEARS BEHIND. I would not change where I went to school because I had an amazing experience, I just wish that the system would put more time and effort into the students who are falling behind instead of just letting them slip.
The Benicia Unified School District does a good job at teaching their students the subjects they need before entering college. However, they could improve on helping their students get into good colleges. My high school experience was a little tough, because I felt like the school could not help me get into my top choices for college; my goal was to go to Stanford University, and because our school is not highest on their list made it very difficult to get accepted. And I know there are other factors as to why colleges accept you, but I had good grades and participated in my community through clubs and community organizations. On top of school, clubs, and community service I made time for sports , family/friends, and work. Overall, I think they are teaching their students well but they can work on helping students move on to a school of their choosing.
