I absolutely love the student-teacher relationships in my school district. The teachers make an active effort to encourage and build up the students daily, so they can gain a greater understanding on whatever it is the student is trying to learn. The teachers are always willing to help the students, so they can succeed. Besides the teachers, the administrators have an open-door policy, so if you have any questions or concerns they are always ready to discuss how to make changes. The staff members are always looking to the students for advice on how to change the school for the better. The custodians are always so nice. The schools have different locations in the building to help foster great relationships too. For example, the high schools have libraries that contain a coffee shop, where students can hang out and have snacks with teachers or fellow students. Overall, Bellevue Public Schools is a great school district because of the lasting relationships that are created.
I love how my school district gives us many opportunities such as clubs and sports. However while they offer a lot the Bellevue school district fosters and seems to almost encourage hostility between the two main high schools in areas like football, basketball, and baseball. I believe that Bellevue should create events and opportunities for students of the two high schools to build friendships with each other, such as a food truck rally or a shared school dance etc. I would also suggest that they take more steps to advertise their school clubs and organizations through fairs and flyers in order to get more involvement.
Overall, this school district is a very welcoming and safe place for students. The majority of the students and staff are very kind and hard-working, and they definitely want you to succeed. It's very easy to develop good relationships with teachers and staff.
That being said, I rate 4/5 stars because I do believe the district needs to take reports of harassment and assault more seriously. This is an issue a lot of school districts need to work on, and I do believe Bellevue Public Schools should set a better example by taking real action when someone speaks up.
