My number one concern with the district is its corruption. There is a lack of transparency between the administration and the people in the district. Recently, the district lost over $2 million and blamed its loss on both a "misplacement" &"makeshift accountant" that messed up the district's finances. Over 200 teachers were on the brink of losing their jobs, the district demolished what was left of the "Academy of Fine Arts and Academics". This created lots of chaos within the district, and highlighted the corruption and dishonesty present in BBOED.
I have had many amazing teachers in both my middle and high school. Although there are a few bad apples (specifically in the Bayonne High School science department) , the general population of employed teachers care about their students. Furthermore, there is a plethora of different clubs/activities/sports that one can join in BHS, the student simply needs to take advantage of the opportunities provided.

In my experience, I've found that the teachers in Bayonne highschool have respect, and admiration for their students. I've yet to have a teacher who hasn't influenced and inspired me in a tremendous way. I have even created a bond with many of my teachers because of how attentive they are of their students. The only thing I would change about my school is the balance between peace and discipline. See, I witness too many cases where staff will either not care so much about students' behavior, or become too aggravated about it. There isn't always a middle ground being met. This causes the other students to either rebel more, or become intimated by school staff. I feel that this results in the decline of success at school. Yet, I do see that as the years went by, the school staff have shown to take notice in this issue, and have begun to improve in their disciplinary abilities. I'm glad to see that in my last year at this school this issue is finally being dealt with.
My experience of 4 years has been pretty good. I think that if you are looking for an excellent high school experience it has to come from you. The resources are there. They are MANY clubs, electives, and sports to choose from, teachers are nice, and guidance is very helpful. I think that it has an incoming transfer or Freshmen would not feel out of place based on the amount of diversity there is. The school is rather large, and fast pace. Which is not bad since it helped the student experience what a college campus would be like.
