Barrington school district is awesome, but still clings to its sports side, in my opinion. It is a great school district for athletes, I just wish they would appreciate academic excellence just as much as they appreciate athletes. However, there are a lot of amazing academic programs. There are two language immersion programs (Spanish and Chinese) those attract families to the district, very solid extended programs (math, English, science, art) for children who tend to learn faster than their peers, many-many fantastic teachers at every school and extensive support programs for children who need help.
What I love the most about our school district is that how flexible it is. The administration listens to parents and students, they do try to accommodate different needs and "wants". They handled the pandemic situation much, much better than many sister school districts.
We moved to Barrington from another district because of schools, and would do it again in a heartbeat!

For those looking for great academics, this is definitely an option to consider. BHS has invested in having many higher level classes such as the new AP Capstone Program and most recently Calc III with UIUC credit. The food is above average but it is expensive, and the free/reduced lunch options for lower income students are limited. Barrington has integrated technology into the classroom by giving each student an iPad to take notes and do their homework.
District 220 is a good district. I am a student at Barrington High School, and I can confidently say that this district is a wonderful district to be in. At BHS, there are many opportunities for students! Many courses (from regular to AP) to choose from and activities to join in school. The teachers will help you as long as you reach out to them. Also, the school library at BHS is incredible. It's a great environment to study and do homework. This year, BHS has really emphasized safety and I can truly say I do feel more safe than I have over the years at BHS. District 220 is doing a wonderful job at building up their schools.
