Most of the teachers are aimiable and good at teaching. My older brother and I were dual enrolled at Ballard, and neither of us had too much trouble transitioning to college classes. While in high school, my older brother was able to take college classes at ISU and DMACC through Ballard, and this was due to the efforts of Mrs. Doland, a guidance counselor at Ballard.
The Ballard Community School District is incredible. The staff helps the students academically and with extracurricular activities, which allows students to become well-rounded members of society. Students have countless opportunities to participate in a multitude of extracurricular activities. It is important for the school to engage all of its learners. Something I would like to see improved is the acceptance of everyone. Students need to be taught to respect everyone despite our differences. I will greatly miss the Ballard community when I leave for college.
Ballard Community School District is a great school for any student who is looking for a smaller class size and in a simple town. Huxley Iowa is a very clean, easy going, and nice town. The police station is located less than 3 minutes away from the school so that if there ever is an emergency they will be there fast. the students are generally respectful and bullying is not a real problem. In regards to the staff, some of the teachers seem to have trouble getting people interested in the subject they are teaching. The teachers themselves can't really enjoy what they are doing sometimes and I believe that has a huge influence on student engagement in classes. If I had a choice when I was younger, I would have chosen this over many. The community is brilliant and the principle of the school is one of the nicest people I've ever met.
