Overall I enjoyed my time at Avon Lake High School. The teachers and the students there were very friendly, allowing me to grow academically as well as socially. The teachers at Avon Lake High School helped me better myself by giving me a course load which forced me to work harder, and they were willing to help when I was lost in the classroom. I think the AP and CC+ programs are great programs, giving a little taste of college in high school and allowing gifted students to challenge themselves. I think the administration is lacking though and needs to be improved in order for the school to reach it's full potential.

I was a student in Avon Lake City Schools for eleven years; second grade through high school. Each school has great resources, including books and technology. A majority of the teachers put great emphasis on doing well and support students and offer opportunities for educational gain. Avon Lake City Schools have high expectations and challenge students to go above and beyond. The school system here is set up a year ahead of most other schools in Ohio; we start high school classes in eighth grade, and the students that are considered on the 'normal' track are actually one year ahead of most schools in Ohio.
The school system in Avon Lake is very good for all types of students. The school's are very safe, well maintained, cleaned and make learning fun. The students here are very eager to learn and there are lots of hands on learning. There are clubs for every time of person, from a large variety of sports to creative clubs such as Drama Club and Photography club. The teachers are always willing to help and usually friendly. College preparation is taken seriously at the High School, with over 90% of the students graduating and going to college. The only downside to the system is the lack of diversity. Avon Lake is mostly white and students do not quite learn about other ethnic groups.
