My experience has mostly been average in this school. I think that it could be worse, but it could be better too.I would really enjoy seeing more foreign languages offered at my school, as well as more finances devoted to the fine arts. The band room always gets a leak every few months in the roof, and despite the school only being 13 years old, there are holes in the hallway ceilings, roach problems, and more. I think that my school has become much more rundown in recent years, and I think change is really needed to promote positive learning and learning about different cultures.
In all honesty this school brought more hardship than anything. Most teachers there did not seem to care about the students (accept a few), and the administration has a hard time of understanding privacy. There were several occasions where I was bullied by the staff and that is not right in any way. I have talked to others who went there, and even a social service member, who was not impressed at all by them, and all the while the students hated high school. The only things that kept us all going was family and classmates. I am deeply disappointed in this school system for the way they have treated me and so many others. The district does nothing about bullying, in fact they get on to the kids being picked on. Someone needs to reprimand them and teach them how to actually handle children and how to stop bullying, the adults who bullied students need to be either fired or a good warning of what this does to children.
One of my favorite things about Aurora is the people you will meet at school. Some people will become your best friend and most of the time those friendships last all through school. Another thing I enjoy is the willingness of teachers to help students in whatever way possible. The staff its self is always willing and ready to step up and help any student in need no matter the problem! It has been a joy to attend Aurora High School.
