Athens Independent School District Reviews
Athens ISD is a smaller school district in East Texas. The school district is one who has lots of diversity from many different places. Athens is one of those towns where when football season rolls around, everyone is at the game supporting everyone under the Friday Night Lights. Then when Basketball comes around we have a great group of students and community come out to support them in our new gym! Overall Athens ISD is a great place to be and it's always a "Great Day To Be A Hornet!"
They need more investment in academics rather than focusing on failing sports teams. Supplies for much of the UIL academic events are few and far between. However the failing sports programs constantly get new equipment and resources that other organizations don't. For example, the AHS debate team over then last 5 years have accumulated 6+ state championships and still do not have resources for every student to compete. The sports teams that rarely make the playoffs constantly get new equipment, jerseys, and support.
I had been waiting a year for this moment and, at five-years-old, that was a good 20% of my life. Thinking back, I remembered when I first asked my parents for it; some kids at school had one, and it seemed so exciting! Please, mom? Please, dad? I begged. I’ll love it and play with it and take it everywhere for the rest of my life, I promise. They smiled a little smile at each other, amused with my sudden but heartfelt desire, and eventually said that.
