I went to school in Atascadero for my entire elementary school years. I loved the schools, the teachers, the principles, and my fellow students. There were always a lot of clubs and organizations putting on activities for us to enjoy, it gave me some very fond memories to look back on. I had my daughter in the home-school based school program this district offered, as well, and I was pleasantly surprised with the organization of the teacher who was in charge.

I go to the Fine Arts Academy which is separate from the Atascadero Middle School. The Fine Arts focuses on art specifically, but doesn't have any programs for sports. I do not think that the school follows all legal rules like rights about the pledge and privacy issues with counseling. Some of the teachers also seem extremely unqualified and some are very unkind. Not all of the specialty teachers actually get paid which might not even be legal. Overall the idea of an art school is cool, but the school itself is poorly equipped and does not focus it's money and time on the right things. It's is important that this review is not on the district itself, but rather on the school.
I love the teachers and staff at all of the school's that I have been involved with. I love all of the parent involvement as well as the relationships between parents and teachers. I am a parent as well as a substitute employee.
