As a senior in high school, I’ve learned a lot about the Ashland school system, and the high school particularly, through the years. The teachers care so much for the students and would do absolutely anything to see them strive. There are some exceptions though, for some you can obviously tell they hate their job and it bleeds into their teaching. Overall, the teachers are very good. The only issue with the school system is the facilities. Our school is extremely old and needs to be completely gutted. Our gym is constantly broken and needs repaired. During basketball season, we practice in sweatshirts and long pants due to the heat always breaking in the gym every winter. We need new facilities in the worst way.
I have been a student in the Ashland Independent School District since I was 5 years old and I have loved it. Every elementary school, the middle school, and the high school offers everything you need to be successful once you graduate. At the high school, they offer 4 year programs, so that you can start classes for your desired pathway and be more prepared for college. It’s very helpful and I would rate the Ashland Independent School District a 10/10.
When I moved to this schools district in 7th grade, I was instantly intimidated by its size and it’s students. However, I was welcomed by all of the loving and caring teachers that promote the district to a higher level of success. Our sports teams are elite as is our school spirit, yet we always struggle to get every student on board to participate and learn.
