Overall this is a good school but there are some problems and changes that need to be done. The music department is my absolute favorite, but i think that they need more funding for it because they spend most of their money on sports. Also, I think there needs to be more help that people can go to when they are having problems. There is a lot of bullying and misbehaving that goes on in our school and I think to change that we need stricter rules. Some people do not learn from what they did because they did not have a good enough punishment to teach them. Also, for the lunches in this school there is not enough that our students are getting and not many of us are feeling full.
To be completely fair, I graduated High School in 2000. Things have changed a lot since then. In fact, my high school - Kittanning Senior High School, no longer exists. They combined Kittanning and Ford City into the Armstrong Jr./Sr. high school that exists today. My high school experience was what you'd typically expect from any small town high school. There were cliques and bullies, but there were also some friends who helped me get through. Most of the teachers I had are either retired or have passed away so I really could not tell you much about the current teachers. My education there was enough to get me accepted to Carlow University where I was able to get a Bachelor's degree in Psychology back in 2004. At this point, I'm going back to school for a completely different career path but I wouldn't have made it this far without the basic education I received when I attended the Armstrong School District.
I enjoyed my experience at Armstrong. The classes I had were mostly useful. The student body is probably the worst part. You can clearly see who the popular kids are, they rule the school and act as if their opinions speak for the entire class. That’s how it always is though. Not the schools fault the students are rude and judgmental.
