The Appleton Area School district is what I grew up in since kindergarten. It has great apportunities for students of all ages with activities and clubs to get involved with the community. Parent involvement is good with staffing dances and field trips, mainly for younger grades. It's also very diverse with the multiple cultures in the Appleton area as well as people with different career interests, from business, mechanics, to art and acting. The college readiness is better than other districts I've heard of with the AP and other advanced courses which can earn you college credits for lower prices. School food in Appleton is very great, there's always a multitude of foods to choose from and you get a well rounded meal every time. There's a a lot of school culture too, and going to Appleton West Highschool, West is Best!

I started in the Appleton area school district in 6th grade. I went to Highlands Elementary and I had the best teacher which made things 100 times better. Middle school was very tough for me my parents were getting a divorce and I started seeing a counselor that would come in once a week to meet with me I truly believe that helped me tremendously! And I'm very grateful that was offered for me. I am a senior at Appleton West High school and I've been there for my whole high school career and they have been some of the best and worst years but the counselors, teachers, and students have made my experience a great one. you can truly tell they care about your future while still showing they care about your personal life too. i's a very good balance of discipline and enjoyability.
I graduated from Appleton West Senior High in 2017. I believe attending a diverse school has taught me to work well with all backgrounds and ethnicities. The rigor of classes I took in high school made me self-disciplined enough to have great study habits in college. The teachers at West challenged me to think conceptually and theoretical during my senior year which changed my way of thinking when in discussion. Finally, I learned self-confidence and leadership with basketball. My senior year I was captain of our basketball. Presenting myself as approachable for younger teammates I think helped our team gel as a unit. That year, we were one win away from state. Even though we lost a heartbreaker, it was the coolest experience I’ve ever had because our community came out and FILLED the stands and cheered for us. It was an unbelievable atmosphere. That is what I will take away from West. The community was all-in for our success.
