Antietam is a small community, so we have a sense of family. We are, however, a low income school district, with over half our students qualifying for free or reduced lunch services. We have some of the best, most personable teachers I've ever met, and we have a lot of diversity. If there's one thing that brings us together and strengthens us in unity the most, it's our pride.
As I was at Antietam it was my first and last year there . Unfortunately it wasn’t an experience I’d wish for someone to have . When it came to guidance I wouldn’t get the answers up until about 2-3weeks . Or I would never get a response back unless I’d harass them. Now I wish they’d treat new students better and create a Shadowing program for new students to learn different rooms and where everything and everyone is while class schedules are being set.
While resources were usually lacking, due to the rather small student population, the teachers are extraordinarily dedicated to their students. Many instructors went above and beyond the call of duty to help their students succeed. At one point, I experienced abuse and emotional issues and the professor went out of their way to accommodate and listen to me. Like I mentioned above, resources such as books, materials and equipment are fairly outdated, but I don't feel like that affected my education overall.
