The best part about Anoka-Hennepin Schools was that most of the teachers that I experienced with were good and they taught very good. There are even things that I learned that I still remember and they benefit me since now I am in college. The worst part about school especially in the last years is that schools were not able to control kids. Lots of kids were smoking or vaping in school and as time goes on, the code of clothing gets worst. Teachers were not punishing kids as much and so many things became normalized. Students would get to the point where they disrespect teachers so much. I also remember that kids were getting out of control in my senior year of high school and the worst part is that staff members also are not being able to control or manage schools. I understand that kids who go to school are teenagers, but because they are teenagers, they should be taught morals. Overall there were many positives and negatives, but unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives.
Anoka- Hennepin is a big school district. I am currently a senior at Andover High School and I have been here at Andover since I was in 4th grade. My parents wanted to move to Andover because they liked the area and they heard that it had a good school district. One of the reasons I like Andover is that they offer a bunch of different clubs and activities that people can participate in. Having different clubs and activities is beneficial because people can do things they enjoy, try new things, explore different interests and make new friends. I also really loved that they offered Bobcat Den and Husky House. That was really beneficial for me because I had an hard time doing my homework and it helped me understand what I was learning better. It also improved my grades. Something I wish teachers would be better at explaining more about is money. Managing money and debt are valuable skills to the majority of students than learning quadratic equations.
Honestly, it's what you make of it! I'd say compared to other school districts, that this district is very big and you'll make friends in other schools for sure. I personally went to a school (over 3,000 students) that's population is rather big but had a lack of diversity and underfunding in the arts. In contrast, some of the other schools in this district are smaller but are much bigger in diversity and athletics. Overall I think it's pretty decent, I've met many teachers who I can email and talk with on a first-name basis. Alongside, I've enjoyed my years in the AH-district. I hope you can too!
