As a 13 year student in Anne Arundel County Public schools, and a daughter of a 21-year veteran teacher in this county, I feel confident in saying that this school system is THE BEST! It is in this school system where I learned how to make friends, hold a pair of scissors correctly, play a violin, shoot a 3-pointer in basketball, solve complex algebra problems, and write a college essay, all while earning above a 4.0 GPA. I have been given incredible opportunities in Anne Arundel County Public Schools and have had a wonderful experience with teachers along the way. During a pandemic in my freshman and sophomore years, I had endless support from teachers, coaches, and administrators. I've had amazing teachers in my junior year that helped me manage my emotions after the sudden passing of my grandmother. My high school principal was present at each basketball game, even over the winter break. I have had a strong support system from Kindergarten all the way through!
This is the only place where I have lived for more than three years. When I first arrived there were so many terrible reviews on the county. They had me terrified to attend school here, but I absolutely loved my experience here. I made connections to other students, and teachers who helped me overcome academic challenges through my time here. There is no school in the world that won't have its problems and my high school is no different, but I enjoy going to school everyday, this county is very inclusive, each school has their rivalry in the county and it makes sporting events that much enjoyable because the entire county comes and supports. I wouldn't change anything in the world to attend a different school in another county.
I attended northeast high and it was honestly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. There were certain things I did not like that much or certain things I wish were different but overall it was a great experience and a lot of my favorite memories and friendships originated from there. While I was there I took several honors and advanced placement courses and participated in several sports and just like anything in life I ran into some obstacles during those activities. However, I have now graduated. Those obstacles partially shaped who I am as a person, changed my opinions or behaviors, and positively affected my character. I am extremely grateful for everything my teachers have done for me in and out of the school building and I hope that others will appreciate them as well.
