I just graduated from Animas and I can tell you I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. It is a very small school so there may not be every sport available, but at our school everyone does everything. There is no such thing as stereotyping because here the most of the students play football, basketball, and track, while also doing drama/theater, FFA, and mock trial. Those same students can also be in NHS and student council. It is also easier to get a ton of scholarships in our small town because you have 14 kids graduating instead of 400. There are a lot of community scholarships as well because the community and the school are work hand-in-hand to make sure the students thrive. We also have amazing counselors and teachers that help the kids to their individual needs and help the with scholarships.
I went to Animas from third grade up until my senior year. I made friends there that I still have relationships with. My teacher's genuinely cared about us as individuals and cared about our education. I have many good memories of special teachers, friends, and of moments that will be forever ingrained in my mind and heart. Animas is where my love for music grew and I gained a deeper understanding for how to sing and be confident in my abilities as a musician. Animas holds a special place in my heart and I will always cherish my time there as a studen.
