Anacortes School District Reviews
I loved that everyone in Anacortes High School was so supportive of everyone's differences. We all have one goal. Do our best before we move on. Anacortes is a very college-bound school. I couldn't be more thankful for the teachers and administration running it all. Everything we do and learn during our four years at Anacortes High School is targeted towards a good education. They make sure we're receiving all the credits and classes we need to get into any college our heart's desire. The teachers are always there for the students in times of need whether it's classwork, a question about college applications, or for someone to talk to when they're feeling down. I could not be more happy and thankful to graduate from a school so great and focused on a student's success.
Anacortes High School is a great experience for those who like to be leaders. They are given the chances to do so at every opportunity, however those who are not inclined to stand up and lead others, will be dragged in the dust. The small town vibes create a social environment that can be very dramatic- and favor the bold. AHS is extremely focused on sports, and doesn't fund or recognize smaller groups. This year the drama department didn't get a single penny for their show while the football team was graced with extravagance. Like many other schools there are liked and disliked teachers- but in anacortes school district maybe more so. Elementary schools were so great, middle school is bad for everyone (no matter who or where you are) and high school just left many wanting to escape. In anacortes school district, prepare to know everyone's business, strengths, weaknesses, and opinions, and prepare for everyone to know yours.
Good sports, but academics are somewhat lacking, namely foreign language. In the foreign language department, there is one language offered, Spanish, and two of the three teachers do not teach the language, they supply vocabulary and grammar rules, while the third is always different.
