The District has more interest in sports than academics. It is a 3A school that worries about its athletic reputation. It is too bad that academics are put on the back burner. My student excels in both athletics and academics. She also realizes that she will get further along in her future based on her grades not her athletic ability. Unfortunately the students that work hard for their grades are not rewarded or challenged to do better - they are considered over achievers by staff and administration.
Amity us a very rural school and this can be both positive and negative in determining your overall experience. There is a small amount of school spirit and academic drive. However, all the teachers are very approachable and willing to help. Amity is a very tight community and seeks to make everyone welcome.
Most teachers work hard. Administration and school board lack support of the students. They are there to promote themselves and sports and not academics.
