As a high school student, the overall student atmosphere at Ames High is kind of low. There’s the patch of upperclassmen like indulge in school spirit, and there’s the incoming freshmen who despise schooling in general. I can’t help but recognize the administrators and staff members who go the extra mile to make school more fun for students and their efforts should not go unnoticed. Teachers on campus have innovated and created new ways of learning to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and have gone above and beyond in their fields. Meanwhile, students who recognize these efforts take the time to appreciate their teachers. It’s time we bring back Ames High spirit, and treat our school with the patriotism it rightfully earns and deserves.
I've gone to Ames my whole life. And there are so many things I can say about it, but, for now, I'll just give a brief rundown of how I feel. I love the staff. ALMOST each and every one of my teachers have made my education so enjoyable, and have actually made me interested in being a teacher myself. In addition to having great staff, I've rarely ever come across bullying here. It still does sometimes occur, but I've not really encountered much of it. Trying to come up with things I don't like about my school district is very difficult, but, there are some things that I don't like. The food served is usually very disgusting, and there isn't enough outreach for people struggling with mental health problems. So, there's my review!
Ames is currently undergoing changes such as a new principal has been assigned, we are currently developing our new building, and our policies are ever-changing. This makes it hard to keep things consistent throughout the four years of high school. That being said, Ames High is very accepting and a positive place to be!
