I just recently moved into the Ames School District, and so far it has been okay. The teachers are very nice and friendly, and the administrators are very quick and effective. However, the environment of the school is a little tense. Verbal fights occur often, and there are sometimes physical fights. However, the school offers many great clubs and sports opportunities. There is something for everyone!

Really good experience, there's a lot of really good teachers, you have a lot of opportunities to join different clubs. From Feminist Club to Spectrum to Lettuce Club, there's just about anything. A lot of choices with AP classes, and there are multiple options for the types of classes you'd want to take. The cafeteria doesn't have many options for vegetarian foods, so you'd have to bring your own lunch if you'd want anything good.
Great teachers and advanced academic opportunities, also great elective options. Definitely geared toward college prep rather than skilled trades, but teaches a very effective base of complete knowledge for any student.
