I just recently moved into the Ames School District, and so far it has been okay. The teachers are very nice and friendly, and the administrators are very quick and effective. However, the environment of the school is a little tense. Verbal fights occur often, and there are sometimes physical fights. However, the school offers many great clubs and sports opportunities. There is something for everyone!

The high school has a lot to offer within its English departments, not much else. The science teachers are lacking in their ability to teach and help students and the math department has the same flaws. The English department had great teachers and well taught classes.
The lunch food is as you expect, not great.
The middle school had issues with safety especially for girls and that caused issues for both the middle school and the high school.
Overall it’s ok, but lots could be improved.
The biggest difference that I see between this school and others is how much the teachers actually care about their students, and I think that strongly impacts how the education functions and succeeds. In addition, a majority of the education is more structured and powerful than other schools, and it truly feels like all the students are learning together.
