I have attended AISD affiliated schools my entire K-12 education. The teachers are beyond the best I could ever hope for. Their academic programs, especially the MAP program and variety of AP classes offered made me feel prepared for college-course work. In addition, the athletic programs were amazing; great coaches and overall an amazing environment for any budding sports player. The school culture made you feel proud to be a Marlin, Longhorn, Maverick, etc. Fights when they occurred, would be stopped immediately by nearby teachers and times by students, themselves. I have made lots of memories from AISD schools that I would never give up.

The entrance years in Alvin (freshman and sophomore) were not very challenging. I felt that my peers and I were not able to excel to our full potential because we did not have educators that pushed us. While I enjoyed attending football and basketball games, the district seemed to value sports over academics. Many athletes got free passes to goof off in their classes and most teachers just let them slide while others actually worked hard for their grades. Ultimately, I would just like to see a greater focus on academics as a whole.
The high school is a nice looking school and they are doing remodeling to it to improve it. I went here all four years and graduated. I was in AP classes and the classes were rigorous. The band is AWESOME! Watching the football team is a must. Even though we do not win all the time. I had so much school spirit all four years. And this is where I met my best friends and gained the knowledge that I possess today.
