Altoona Area School District Reviews
During my time in the Altoona Area School District, I was able to enroll in multiple Advanced Placement classes. With the opportunity to take these classes, I was given an educational advantage for my tertiary education. My Advanced Placement class benefited me when I started my "Programming using Java" class here at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Going into the class I knew a great amount of the information covered within the first few weeks. The Altoona Area High School prepares its students well for post high school education. Additionally, if I was to change anything about my high school I would change the weekly schedule. A block schedule allows students to have specific classes every other day(s). My high school required us to follow the same class schedule every day. If this change would be made, students would be affected positively. The block schedule could allow the student body to be acquainted with the university environment in a timely manner.
My experience at the Altoona Area School District has been challenging, rewarding and positive throughout all my years, from Elementary, through Junior High and now Highschool. The teachers recognize when additional help is needed and implement quickly for necessary development. If I would change one thing, it would be more on the perception of all athletic activities. I am involved in cheerleading which has helped me grow and develop my confidence in who I am as a person and student athlete for our school. I would like to see more support from the school leaders to support all athletic activities.
The Altoona Area School District has never failed to give me the best education I deserve. As an honors student I always felt treated like an adult and human being who was loved and cared for by staff and administrators. Although being at the jr high and hs can be difficult at times, problems never stick around too long. Principals, teachers, and counselors are always in my corner and always work to keep me healthy, happy, and well educated. I feel truly blessed to be going to Altoona.
