Allegany County Public Schools Reviews
Allegany county public schools has a wide variety of paths to take throughout educational career. Beginning in elementary school, students are incorporated into high level classes that prepare them for middle school. middle school then gives students a little bit of freedom to choose some of their classes which gives them a feel of high school. In high school , student are given opportunities to play different sports, take different classes, be part of different clubs, etc. All of these things prepare the student for college while also providing access to resources if they need help.
My experience at Allegany was mostly average. Despite the literally crumbling facility, most teachers have been very helpful in guiding me through my high school career, especially within the last year. I had the most growth my junior year because of the challenging AP and Honors classes I partipated in, as well as new sports and clubs such as tennis and NHS. The public schools in my hometown are beginning to learn to diversify our learning environment for the better and find the best ways to let students grow.
I was so happy to be apart of Allegany Highschool and I am very proud to be apart of the adventure and history. Allegany gives its students room to grow and the ability to strive for success. Unlike other schools Allegany focuses on the art programs and sports equally allowing both types of students to succeed. The rivalry between Fort Hill and Allegany is also an amazing thing to be apart of. Homecoming week is not taken lightly and neither is the game. The stadiums are filled with students, parents, and alumni. We keep traditions including the senior march around the school during homecoming week, seniors spray painting the road the night before graduation to leave their mark, and other activities that make Allegany so amazing.
