While I've enjoyed the teachers at Allegan Public Schools, and even the staff overall, the administration and guidance staff at the Senior High School are absolutely horrendous. The guidance staff offer no real guidance or any help, typically dodging emails and responsibilities regularly. Additionally, transcripts to be sent to colleges and other important paperwork either never gets sent, or is conveniently "lost" is you're not a favorite student. A great number of students also share this opinion, including the many alumni who have been denied scholarships and acceptance into first-choice schools because of the guidance staff. In stark contrast to this catastrophic failure of a department, the teaching staff is extremely kind, helpful, understanding, and friendly.

Pretty decent school, better than a few schools in the area. If you're a kid looking for trouble, don't come here for sure, it's just more trouble that adds to the other few troubles in this school. Teachers are pretty good. Some suck at there job while others knock it out of the ball park with teaching. If you're a good student then this would be a good school for you as the teachers will most definitely help you with whatever you need if you put enthusiasm in any subject and respect them as well, even if you don't rock at calculus, the teacher will still like you for sure!
I will never forget my experiences at Allegan or the life long friends I've had the chance to meet. I did not like being the first group of students to switch from the ACT to the SAT, that was very stressful as we've always been prepared for the ACT. I loved tiger olympics and the dances, I went to almost all of them. Also, I will never forget our annual "paint war" as seniors. We actually got kicked out and to go home and shower! These are all unforgettable memories I get to share with my very close group of friends from Allegan High School.
