I would like to say how this school has taught me how to do everything on my own from checking my own GPA, to seeing my ranking, explaining my career goals, and searching for scholarships on my own. Though this school district has seen many changes such as using the restroom before and after 15 minutes of the bell, the cell phone policy to make sure nobody takes personal photos, is a dramatic change. At the High School, they have installed metal detectors to ensure students' safety from dangerous stunts, or ransom. At one point those detectors made me late to class but now it's efficiently quick. Everybody says that we need to report problems such as bullying, harassment, suicide thoughts, depression to someone who is willing to listen. Over here at the high school, nobody is being heard, nobody is taken seriously, no action is taken. When will the staff realize that this is the real world where people need to talk about problems, not ways to be silenced.
At the time several years ago, it had a wonderful academic decathlon program that enriched my education. AP offerings were limited. Many teachers were very dedicated and involved themselves in extracurricular activities like engineering or community service.
My overall experience at Alice Independent School District was very poor and dreadful. Lack of diverse academic courses and real world preparation classes. Poor school culture and little school clubs and activities. ACT, SAT and college preparation at AISD was very poor with little to no classes to prepare students. School meals where limited and quality of the food was dreadful. Sports at AISD where overall above average with football, basketball and softball being the major attractions. One thing about ASID that I liked where the fantastic pep rallies at the high school. One thing that I would like to see change at ASID is lack of academic courses with more classes being offered for science, history, math and classes that deal with the real world such as money matters class. Another aspect I would like to see changed is amount of college preparation being offered at AISD, such as preparation classes for ACT and SAT.
