Alabaster City Schools is an amazing place for students, parents, and teachers! The district works hard to make sure students are learning, reaching their highest potential, and ready for whatever their next step may be. ACS has a variety of extracurricular activities and other experiences for students to participate in. ACS is able to provide opportunities (academics, athletics, etc.) to students that they may not have had in other school districts. ACS works directly with APD to keep SROs in the school full-time so students have a safe space to learn. My favorite thing about ACS is the central office staff and board members are in the schools regularly so they know the students, faculty, and staff. It's easy to see how much they truly care for their students because of the time and dedication they put into their positions.
My experience at Alabaster City School has been overall spectacular! There is a wide variety of many classes that can be taken, the teachers and administrations are very devoted to have everyone get a CCRI, certain food from lunch is overall good when it comes to school food, and the school building is very big and resembles a college. The only critique I have for the school is that I feel like a small percent of teachers don't feel or act motivated to teach or doesn't teach at all. Nevertheless, I believe Alabaster City School is a great school to be apart of and hope other people share the same belief as me.
Alabaster City Schools is such a great district! As a proud alumni of Thompson High, and remembering when it changed from Shelby County Schools to Alabaster City Schools, it has changed so much educationally. They care about the students' academics, along with their athletic careers. They are focused on making sure everyone feels a part of the community and that they succeed. Coming back home and being a part of the district again just feels right to me.
