Stevenson is a hyper-competitive school. Academic success is embedded within the culture, which pushes students to excel in their studies. It breeds a group of students that are undoubtedly well-prepared for college. It also, unfortunately, pushed students to prioritize grades over mental and physical well-being, as well as academic integrity. Students constantly feel pressure to outperform their peers, which can cause an abandonment of principle and morale, which causes an extremely toxic peer environment. The staff are well aware of the induced pressures, and they are always trying to improve and adapt accordingly. Regardless, many Stevenson students are constantly under extreme amounts of academic pressure. Stevenson, despite being a fantastic school on paper, holds systemic flaws in culture.
As a former student for Stevenson, I recommend sending your child here! They have great resources and the teachers are always going to push your child to be the best. If I was falling behind, they would set me up with resources that made me succeed. Because of this, I was able to graduate with honors! The food is wonderful and they have a ton of healthy options. They take each student into consideration and always offer the best solution to any problem.
The only reason why I took off a star is because of the sports. I played volleyball and I felt like sometimes politics got involved and it affected playing time for some of the students. This created a lot of toxicity within the team and created unnecessary drama. However, on the bright side, a lot of the sports teams perform really well and the coaches do care about the players well-being. That was the only downside of attending Stevenson. Overall, I really enjoyed being a student there and I recommend parents send their kid there!

As Rishy Sridhar, a student at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Illinois, I can confidently say that the school offers a strong academic curriculum and dedicated teachers, providing an enriching educational experience. However, the high levels of competition and pressure among students can lead to stress and anxiety. To address this, implementing comprehensive wellness programs and emphasizing mental health support would greatly benefit students. Additionally, while the school promotes diversity, more efforts can be made to foster inclusivity through cultural exchange programs and diversity training. Improved communication channels between students and the administration would also enhance collaboration and ensure that student voices are heard. Overall, with these solutions, Stevenson High School can continue to provide a well-rounded education while prioritizing student well-being and inclusivity.
