Abingdon-Avon High School in particular is a rather average place to attend. There are immature underclassmen and arrogant upperclassmen, and everyone is there because they have to be. However, the teachers and staff always seem to care and make an extra effort to have an effect on the life of each student. District 276 as a whole is similar in familiarity between student and staff. The District is what can be considered progressive with technology having a growing role in day-to-day education. A majority of the common sports are available for participation, including football, soccer, basketball, baseball, track, cross country, volleyball, and softball.
I moved in my sophomore year of high school, and it was an easy adjustment. I enjoyed my classes for the most part, as much as any high schooler can. Also, I really respect the administration, and the teachers, almost all who are 100% there to help their students succeed in every way. There were more academic opportunities I could take advantage of at Abingdon - Avon High school. The school schedule is on trimesters, giving more class credit opportunities. The extracurricular activities were also extremely fun to be a part of, from sports to student council, to the musicals put on every year.
I love my high school because of the friendly atmosphere. All the teachers are nice and willing to help and the principal is extremely friendly and will help any student at any time of the day. My high school is smaller compared to others, but it gives me a chance to get to know everyone. With a small community, we have a better chance to stand up for each other. I am against bullying in every way, shape, and form. I feel like my high school does a good job of keeping everyone happy and safe.
