At this school, you don't need to worry about anything other than your classroom assignments. Teacher's always watch over their students the majority of the time. A few times a year, police officers come and do a drug dog detection walk. Students are even required to take a Drug Awareness and Readiness class, and at drop offs, there were always assistant principles watching over all doors that were not designated as drop off doors. Students were kept in the cafeteria until class began and doors were locked from the outside during the day.

Teacher's ensured that learning included hands-on projects. Science classes had access to samples from the city's university, and I remember looking at bone, muscle, and skin slides under the microscope. There were 9 classes per day and homework was usually due the next day so it was tough. I had to draw my own maps for Social Studies and then use that same map on an exam. Sex ed was not taught at this school.
Usually students from the same ethnicity stuck together. Peer pressure was an invisible but strong force, although not many fell for it until later years. People were generally nice but again, very closed groups.
