Even with the 9th grade separated from the other grades, there are still ways to be involved in the school with clubs, sports, and music. During my time at Curtis, I thoroughly enjoyed the community of students and staff as well as the residents who become so involved in school activities, such as concerts and sports. The school is very supportive in academics and the counselors ensure you will succeed in your time at Curtis. And of course, school spirit is always present no matter where you are or what you are doing. The students and staff are always ready to show their pride. Go Viks!

I like how our school has better education than most schools around my home. The teachers are efficient in teaching their students. Prom and Homecoming are really fun because of our fantastic ASB. The career counselors make sure the students and I are constantly provided opportunities that will help us apply for colleges. For example, they keep an updated list of high school summer programs online and in the lunch room.
Overall, Curtis is a good school, the teachers are decent at there jobs, but the diversity is not good. Being a student of color in the junior high, you always stand out. There was recently a school shooting joke, where a student in the 8th grade was threatening to shoot people of color regarding the “kkk”. Many white supremacy signs were also thrown up in a attempt to have a peaceful walk out for the shooting that happened in Florida. This school is not good for diversity.
