I chose Cristo Rey because my sister already attended the school. I was initially miserable because of my acceptance letter. Yes, I had one of my closest friends also attending the school, but it wouldn’t be the same. I applied to Notre Dame. I didn't get in. I was expecting as much as my middle school wasn’t exactly known for being top notch. My sister also wasn’t too thrilled about Cristo Rey, but my mom was determined for us to see the light. When I got there my freshman year I realized that this school was something else. The classes were short and challenging and all of a sudden I felt like I was falling behind. Additionally, I would be partnering up with a company to learn how to work in corporate. It was a lot for a recent 8th grade graduate, but I made it work. I'm grateful for Cristo Rey for providing me once in a lifetime experiences.
Love the Corporate Work Study Program! Really gives students new opportunities to explore a variety of work careers and environments. The school community is amazing.
Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School is an incredibly safe and united school. The campus is small when compared to other high schools, but the school spirit is quite the opposite. You will automatically feel like you belong as all teachers, staff, and students are all welcoming. They have strict rules in order to make the school just in order to make the school system suitable to help the development of young professionals.
