Transferring to this private high school in my junior year was the greatest thing I've ever done. Being in a public school in Freshman and Sophomore year, I didn't really enjoy my education because mostly all staff/teachers were quitting. In some classes I would have substitute teachers for two-three months. All students weren't learning because of the lack of teachers. I started doing research on my own to find a better high school for me. I found one and it was Cristo Rey San Jose High School. I told my mother about it and she went to go apply for me. I then got into that school and everything was different. The teachers were actually teaching their subjects and also cared for you. They have better education and preparing you for college. There is a program called Cooperate Work Study Program. It prepares you to be professional and they give you jobs as a intern. This is a great school to prepare for you for college.

The Cristo Rey San Jose offers students the chance to be able to work in a Corporate Environment through the Work Study program. This is very valuable because students are able to know how work environments are for their assigned fields. The schools learning programs are also unconventional which is beneficial to some students and hazardous to others. Math is completely automated where students are able to go at their own pace. I thrived under this system however other students quickly fell behind since they needed the traditional classroom environment. There are not many options for AP when it comes to Cristo Rey. Since the school is still relatively new there are only a few AP classes offered and the teachers teaching AP students are mostly unprepared for the curriculum. Lastly, there aren't many opportunities for extracurricular activities. There are clubs but they aren't involved in everyday activities and the student government has no effect on the lives of the students.
Cristo Rey is an great school for those looking for a unique high school experience due to its work study program. The work study program allows students to obtain professional internships all four years in companies such as Google, HP, as well as many others. It is not the best choice for those highly interested in fine arts or sports. College counceling is amazing, and academics are fine.
