My experience at my high school has been a rollercoaster. In the beginning, I did not like going to Crete. I didn't like the environment or the teachers. Part of the reason why i did not like my school was because I wasn't involved. Once I started being in student government, my whole perspective changed. I felt like I could change the school environment by being apart of student government. After being a regular member in student government for a year & a half, I decided to run for student body treasurer my sophomore year. I got elected and immediately made it a plan to make Crete better. Without being involved in student government, I think I would still have the mindset of Crete is not a good school As far as my experience with the staff at my school, it hasn't been bad. For my freshman and sophomore year, I didn't really have any relationships with my teachers. Now, in my junior year i definitely have great relationships with three of my teachers. My experience at crete is good.

Throughout my four years as a student, I enjoyed being around friends and having teachers who cared about providing me the tools to succeed in my education. I also loved the pep rallies and High School football games and cheering on my schoolmates as they took us the championships. One thing I would want them to change is the strict harsh rules within the school because Crete Monee has an issue when it comes to school fights and I believe the harsher the consequences are on the students the more fights are going to occur. Overall, despite that issue, my experience was great and I enjoyed every last moment of it.
As a junior transfer student to Crete-Monee, i have experienced new benefits, and new challenges. Every school has its pros and cons. Crete-Monee seems to have issues that the community, staff and students seem as if impossible to improve. Areas of improvement such as curriculum, staff relationship, staff and student body relationship, and finally staff and parent relationships. Only If we as students, staff, and parents would take the time to look in a different perspective other than our own, if we took the time to put ourselves in someone else shoes to understand where they are coming from, then we will see change. Most teachers are teaching and interacting with students from different ethnicities and different backgrounds. These interactions are key to the culture of the school. Students who are in a school and or home structure where discipline is without care, they tend to react as if they don't care. Hatred cannot drive out hatred.
