Most teachers at this school are engaged in the topics they teach. The history teacher and our newest English teacher feel strongly about the things they teach. The history teacher, Mrs. Wilson, was the first teacher that ever caught my interest in history. Every other teacher before did not have passion for the subject, where on the other hand, Mrs. Wilson enjoys teaching history more than anything else. When the teacher enjoys what they teach, the students are more engaged as welll. Mrs. Lovejoy, the newest English teacher is the same way. Both of the science teachers enjoy their subjects and understand them well, but appear to lack the skills to teach certain aspects of their subjects. Our math teachers have the same issue; they are passionate about what they teach, but lack many explanation skills students need.

I love CCAA because of how small the student population is. It is so nice to be so connected to everyone in your class and it has such a nice family feel. I also like, since its so small, how the teachers are so involved and they really know their students. I wish that since we are such an arts integrated school that we had more funding for these departments. Recently, our choir teacher was moved to another school and our band teacher had to start teaching choir as well. Not only do I feel bad for the teachers I also feel for the students who had an influential choir teacher taken away from them. It would also be nice if our school looked more like an arts school. We do have some murals around the school but it would look so much better if we could paint the walls and not have to worry about it being removed one day.
This school has welcomed me like I'm a member of the family we have here, but there are many things it lacks. Students collaborate very well, however; the entire senior class has parties of its own and goes out together outside of school. There are a couple people who may treat people in ways they should not be treated, but it is an overall family-like experience. That is what makes this school unique, in fact: its ability to make everyone feel welcome and feel like they are one of the family. My first day freshman year, I was told by outsiders that people here were stuck up and rude, but the day I walked in a few seniors were eager to ease my worries and tension by welcoming me. That atmosphere is slowly leaving with each new group of freshman, as the current ones have formed cliques and advocated bullying, where all above grades are mixtures of students where all types of people get along. I would not choose this school again, most likely, if I had the choice, because I have had personal experiences here with a select few people who have made my high school experience unfortunate.
