Cottonwood High School is a very unique school, the school itself may be old but it is thriving with new fun culture and amazing students and incredible staff. I have played for Cottonwood since I was a freshman and my family has been there since it was opened. The diversity at Cottonwood is like any other, one minute you can be talking to someone who grew up down the street the next you could be learning about someone's culture and how they grew up and their struggles. Cottonwood is one of a kind school. There probably are changes that could be made but I guarantee that our Staff and and Administration is working very hard to make those changes.
I love cottonwood because everyone is so nice to one another! Everyone at our school is friends and it is so awesome! I also how how diverse our student body is! We welcome students from all over. It's cool to have so many different backgrounds and cultures in our school. We learn so much from each other!
Cottonwood is a good school. Though I feel it has been better in the past and it is getting worse. The school has one of the widest range of students from South Salt Lake to Taylorville and to Murray/Holladay/Cottonwood Heights. This is great for the fact that there is so much diversity in the school. Another reason for this is The Academy of Engineering and Science (AMES) is inside of the school drawing students from all over. All this creates cliques. Cottonwood is becoming a very cliquey school and it is not fun. Kids can be friends at school, though not on the weekend. Also one does not know half the people or even a fourth of the school walking the halls. Another thing is how bad Cottonwood's school spirit has become. Most do not support the school in any of its activities except for the occasional football or basketball rivalry. I would've much rather gone to another nearby school like Skyline or Olympus.
