Cosby High School is one of the safest and nicest schools you could attend in the Commonwealth of Virginia. There is virtually zero bullying and the school atmosphere is positive between all students. However, the negative social pressure can be instituted by the administration rather than the students. There is a collective dislike for a majority of the administration and there is a lack of connectivity between students and teachers. Class variety is nice, with an array of classes with decent teachers that know their subjects, however not all teachers are necessarily suited to teach students. Some lack initiative to connect to students, where others tend to turn into overbearing parents that pour busy-work onto the students. College preparation is underwhelming to say the least, as guidance counselors offer little help for students that need financial assistance or information. The community built by the students and parents create a positive atmosphere at any events or activities.

High School overall isn't too bad. Its a time to grow and mature, and unfortunately at times make mistakes. The biggest thing I think needs to be changed is some of the rules. Many kids make bad decisions that do not cause harm to others and are the same bad decisions made by previous generations. The issue now is the level of punishment. In the past these mistakes were handled by levels of disciplines, such as detention after school. Now these same mistakes are resulting in long term suspensions and referrals to the justice system. The job of the schools is to keep students and teachers safe, no questions about that. The level of punishment imposed at some schools should have common sense applied when there is no harm/safety issues to the school.
Overall I have enjoyed my High School Career at Cosby because of the classes academic challenges and good teachers. The food is not very good and facilities are ok. Diversity is limited but it's an accepting school. It is a safe environment with an armed officer. Cosby High School has some of the best teachers I've ever met, they are caring, intelligent, and make their classes interesting to keep their students alert and learning throughout the year.
