My overall experience at Cortez High School has been positive. teachers are great at their subject, and truly care about how their students do with the course work and their overall high school experience. The diversity on campus is amazing and their is a sense of community which is very strong. The club available to students range from a long list; such as Theater, k-pop club, colt buddies, culinary club and more!

During my Cortez High experience, I felt very reassured that my education is in good hands by the staff and my fellow students. We were very much supportive of each other and we were a tight knit community where we all knew each other. While there is a positive side of side, one thing I would want to change is that they should have equal opportunities to AP/Honors students and Regular students. It seems like regular kids are not told of the many opportunities that the honors kids receive and that by the time they find out an opportunity, it is missed for them.
Regardless of what I’ve heard from students and adults who have never even attended Cortez High school, I believe it’s a great school. The teachers are great and they tend to the students in a fast and positive manner. There are many tools implemented at Cortez to help students keep up academically with their peers. The only downfall to Cortez High School is the dress code. Although the administration has good intentions with the strict dress code, many students find it suffocating. Students express themselves through their clothing and the strict dress code that is being implemented at Cortez keeps those students from this form of expression.
