One of my favourite things about Coronado High was all the different classes I could take. There was something for everyone – from honours and advanced placement courses to vocational classes, and electives like photography, journalism and music production. It was also nice to see how many resources the school provided for students who needed extra help. Whether it was through tutoring, after-school programs, or even special support in specific classes, Coronado High School made sure that no student felt left out.
Although my experiences at Coronado High were mostly positive, there is always room for improvement. If I could change one thing about Coronado High I’d also like to see a greater focus on life skills classes such as financial literacy, health education and career development. I think it’s important for high school students to be equipped with these skills before they graduate so that they can be successful in life.

I had a great experience here at Coronado. I’m currently a senior in the process of applying to colleges and scholarships. By far the best advising and help I have received is from Mrs. Tidball, our College and Career Advisor/Specialist. She’s an amazing resource for anyone with questions about their future. She’s been in the business for a while, so she knows what she’s doing, and she’s proven herself time an again to be outstanding in her line of work. The teachers are also amazing. I recommend taking AP Psychology and AP Lang with Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Barton, respectively. They are great teachers that taught me immense knowledge that I will be taking with me to college and for life. Through the amazing resources available here, any student can succeed. The AP Academy is full of teachers who care for their students and who work to teach the next generation to be outstanding human beings, especially Mr. Anderson.
Coronado High School, a beautifully blended school, full of opportunities and hope has been the school I've represented for nearly three year. Although, Coronado itself has struggled with going above and beyond in a few aspects, the staff have continuously put in the effort to give students the finest resources available and provide them with the ceaseless support, whether it be for the present or future. Despite my never ending love for the school and my peers, I have hoped for an increase in the safety of said school. It is understandable that, while being a high school, fights are bound to happen; but I have steadily hoped that the staff would be more attentive to the violence that occurs. It is clear that administrators attempt to keep the school a safe space for students, they could be a bit more observant towards the signs that point to fights. Overall, Coronado is a wonderful school, but, like the rest of us, it has flaws that I hope they are able to overcome soon.
