My name is Declan Dineen and I just moved to Coronado this year from Chicago and ever since I've been here it's been an amazing experience. I first was nervous with going to a new school and everything but my goal was to just be involved and reach out of my comfort zone. Well, I would say I've done exactly that. So far I've joined around 5 clubs and activities including Best Buddies, Emerald Keepers, Young Life, Junior Optimist, and Interact/ Rotary Club. Alongside that, I'm involved in a theatre program that the school has to offer called CoSA which involves 6 conservatories including Musical Theatre and Visual Arts. So far I would say my experience at Coronado High School has been an absolute blast and I'm excited to see where the next 3 years take me.

Coronado itself is a beautiful town and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be transported to a simpler time for their vacation. As for the high school, it's pretty decent. The academics are fantastic most of the time. The teachers are passionate about their subject and want the best for their students. The students can be a little cliquey when it comes to outsiders because many grew up on Coronado together, so the transition can be rough, but there are definitely some quality people there. It's not diverse and comfort levels vary by ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Ultimately, I'd want to spend a day or so in the community before making a decision on whether or not to go here because the experience can be great for some and ok for others.
Coronado High School had a nice campus and most of the staff was great. I had some amazing teachers who helped me realize that I love literature, government, and that I can even do statistics! I wasn't very sporty, but the school had incredible fields and pools for sports. When I played softball, I felt lucky to have such a nice, new field. The campus was clean and the community was tightly knit. Coronado is a very safe place to live as well. I always felt safe on pubic transit there. I also really appreciated that students could get lunch off-campus!
