Coronado High School Reviews
Rating 4.15 out of 5 261 reviews
Teachers are amazing and friendly, however the administration tends to make decisions without consulting the student and staff body, which has led to several awkward limbo periods that are hard for both students and teachers. In addition, the 4x4 schedule implemented in late 2021 makes it near impossible for the average student to take AP tests, as they will have to be worrying about reviewing for the test while they are taking other classes that are completely unrelated to the class they are taking the test for. For the most part, the student body is friendly and welcoming to all, although most (myself included) lack school spirit. It is also an amazing school for those interested in the arts, although there are still some kinks that need to be worked out in that department.
Coronado High school is a great public school. The curriculum is challenging. The teachers are supportive. The buildings are clean and well kept. I really enjoy the 4x4 schedule, as it allows me to leave school at 1:50 pm instead of 3:30 pm. The learning is quite fast paced. Since my school is pretty small compared to nearby high schools, I feel as if we have a stronger sense of community. Coronado high school is a welcoming, encouraging, and terrific school. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. However, I wish we had more unique classes to choose from, such as culinary class. I also wish we had some other APs, such as AP microeconomics.
CHS was a wonderful place to go to high school. Safe island, a beautiful campus, and fantastic academic opportunities as well as sports. I loved (almost) all of my teachers.
Diversity and culture is something to be improved. They're getting there slowly but surely but it definitely needs attention.
The 4x4 class schedule is also only beneficial to a certain selection of students and without proper resources for those it throws under the bus.
