CCS was a great experience for me! I was involved in the Musicals, sport, chorus, and band and took advantage of many of the afterschool extracurricular activities. One of my favorite aspects of CCS is how much it immerses its students into the broader community. By inviting community members into the school as guests and even going so far as finding each 8th-grade student a community mentor in a field they think is interesting. CCS has done a lot for me and helped me grow as an individual. I am in college presently, and surprisingly enough, I still benefit from things I've learned and people I met while at CCS. Being a relatively small school, CCS also helped me create excellent peer relationships. Although we have all gone our separate ways, I am still incredibly close with many of my former peers from CCS.
I attended Cornwall Consolidated from 1st-8th grade and graduated in 2015 and have had two other siblings who also attended CCS. CCS was a fantastic experience where I was able to grow both personally and academically. I always had wonderful and attentive teachers who invested themselves in my education and success throughout my time at CCS. With relatively small classes (roughly 15 students in my class), the teachers are really able to cater to each student's needs and strengths. I happen to excel at math and CCS was easily able to keep up with my progress and continue to keep me engaged and learning new things at a faster level. While on the other hand, one of my siblings struggled with reading and CCS was able to work with them and help them overcome many difficulties and teach them strategies to face future challenges. They are now in high school and doing exceedingly well with the skills gathered from CCS. I am presently in college and still benefiting from my time at CCS.
I went to Cornwall Consolidated as a student 15 years ago and look back on my memories with such fondness. Now that I work with schools all over CT, I really see how amazing of a school it is.
Our children attended school here from kindergarten through 8th grade. We moved here from New York City in search of a top notch public school, that offered arts, languages, music classes and had a real outdoor playground where our kids could run and play and be in nature. We found all this and so much more at CCS - our kids learned to play instruments, sang in the chorus, participated in theatre and excelled because of the epic teachers at this school. Especially of note is the epic math program - highly engaged, energetic and fun! This school rocks and so does Mike Croft, the principal. You can move here and get your kids in school, or you can pay tuition to attend if you live in a different town - it is only $2,100 per year...the best public school that is exactly like a private school!!
