What I love bout Corcoran is that we are all one big family. We all love each other an look out for one another. Also the administration are like are parents, they are so supportive and they show they care. They never let us down ! They make sure we are always on the right track and they make sure everyone is happy and safe. Corcoran has the best support Yates when it comes to sports and fundraising or any other kind of extracurricular activity. Corcoran is just the best school. I wouldn’t change anything about it.
I really like how my high school gave students the options to take I.B. courses. These courses would give students the opportunity to begin college with college credits. My high school was very diverse and always went the extra mile to make sure that all students always felt included. My high school is the reason I am where I am today and I will appreciate Corcoran always and forever.
I enjoyed my time, the teachers especially were very supportive with helping me get ready for college. They always push me to try my hardest.
At first, I was a bit nervous to embark on a new path way at Corcoran High School, but when I met the fantastic staff and supportive and welcoming classmates, I felt at home. I understood what it meant to be a Corcoran “cougar.” To aid others in their strive to achieve their goals. I instantly became attached to the school environment and now that I am a senior, I continue to welcome new coming students to show them that Corcoran High School is a family bonded together to make a difference.
Depending on what branch you go into (this could be with academics or extracurriculars), being a student at Corcoran High School can be challenging, fun, average , or simple. I am in IB and at times it is difficult. I can't speak for other academies. But there ARE other academies.
It's a decent school and since it's so small there is a lot of teachers actually helping you and the school makes an effort to help you get your credits.
The one thing I enjoy about this high school is that we are allowed to go off-campus during lunch, so we get to eat whatever we want. The school also holds a few COS courses for us to take and we get college credits for those classes. Some changes that I would like to see at this school is for them to add more clubs because there are only a few clubs and those do not always catch everyone's attention.
Corcoran High School, depending on what classes you’re in. In my experience I loved Corcoran it was my second home, I’ve had the best experience going there, there’s a lot of stigma surrounding the school but it was everything.
Despite the common suburban perspective, Corcoran is an incredible school. Everyone really is a family and sticks together, all students stick together. Everyone in this school makes the most of what they’re given to work with.
The school offers great education especially in the IB program, but the staff seems like they have no control of the students. They punish everyone for what 1 group of kids do which is unfair to me.
I would like to Corcoran with some new suffer like new chairs tables the school is To little to many kids in 1 class
First, the school does not teach all of history. The school's student population is mostly minorities and the curriculum taught does not apply to majority of the students, therefore most students do not engage. Majority of the Faculty do not encourage student body to work hard, they are unfit as to what to teach the students. The environment for the students unsafe and nothing prepares students for university level course work.
It's not a bad school , the teachers care about your well being ! Enroll in the IB program it prepares you for college . Other schools do have better opportunities for example, Fowler you can graduate a licensed cosmetologist and Henniger you can get training in health care .
I liked the IB program that Corcoran offers. It really helped me prepare for college in every way possible, from the pages of essays to the CAS activities. It really does require a lot of hard work and dedication. It shows that you can be a well-rounded person and that's what colleges want to see.
I am in the IB Program at Corcoran High School. It is a very difficult and rigorous academic program. It definitely has prepared me for college. I was very fortunate to get this experience at Corcoran High School.
Transferring to Corcoran my junior year wasn't something I really wanted to do, but it was a good move. I've made mistake that I would've made and because of them I've become a better person ready to face anything. Being in the IB program also is a good thing provided, it prepares students who want to be at a higher level of learning and gets them ready for college. The only thing I believe needs to change is some students that attend, due to their behavior it cuts back on what older student and students who are good, can do.
I am a participant in National Honor Society and the IB program, our school's equivalent of the gifted group. Therefore, my experience is very different from the majority of students. I like and get along with almost all of my teachers; they act like real people and are engaged with the students. The same sentiment applies to my peers. I do, however, share the experiences of every student of the food and facilities, which, due to our location in the inner city, are lacking. However, everyone pulls together to help make positive changes.
