Gables was a great experience from Freshmen to Senior year. I've met wonderful teachers and staff who were dedicated in their profession and have helped students in their own charismatic ways. The advisers and counselors are very informative and dedicate their time in the students' academic success and college readiness. I haven't had any major problems with my classmates since everyone was very nice and helpful to one another, especially when it comes to the IB program. The school also offers spirited events that you would look forward to, with senior year being the most special with Senior Picnic and Grad Bash! To summarize, the people and events are amazing.

The environment is somewhat of a downside. The campus has open areas of greenery to enjoy the outside. The inside of the school, however, is home to the occasional peeling paint off the walls. The bathrooms may be the only disgusting places on campus but are bearable with the regular cleaning they get.

Regardless of the physical state of the buildings the teachers made the experience worthwhile! Unfortunately, in the state of Florida too much emphasis is put on test scores and the teachers curriculum is held hostage. Too much pressure is put on students in the IB program and while it does prepare one adequately for college the amount of redundant work is unnecessary. The amount of homework was excessive. The start time should be adjusted to after 8:30 am, as adopted in some other states. Expecting a teenager to focus so early is not feasible.
The school environment isn’t the best. People ask why there is no school spirit, and honestly? It’s because there isn’t anything to be passionate about. The administration can range from sweet and caring, to the most apathetic and underpaid staff you could ever encounter. Students are generally just not there. They’re there because they have to be, but there’s a massive disconnect between the IB, aka, the bourgeoisie, and the normal student. They’re encouraged while the peasantry is spit on continuously. The students are also generally disrespectful, and when it’s not the student, it’s a teacher. There are some good people, just like there are bad. Even tho it’s not the worst, it needs massive reform. Sometimes it genuinely feels like the ones in charge of instructing don’t even know what they’re doing themselves.
