Regardless of the physical state of the buildings the teachers made the experience worthwhile! Unfortunately, in the state of Florida too much emphasis is put on test scores and the teachers curriculum is held hostage. Too much pressure is put on students in the IB program and while it does prepare one adequately for college the amount of redundant work is unnecessary. The amount of homework was excessive. The start time should be adjusted to after 8:30 am, as adopted in some other states. Expecting a teenager to focus so early is not feasible.

Coral Gables Senior High School has provided me with the best high school experience I could have imagined myself to have. I am currently an IB senior and I feel like I have grown so much as a person and in my academic work as well. I feel more than prepared to go to college and will always hold my head high when speaking of Coral Gables. The teachers are truly amazing they care for you as if you were they child and go beyond and above to ensure you receive the proper education. Coral Gables constantly has school activities through out the year such as Special Olympics, IB Brunch, pep rallies, senior picnic and more! However, I do wish the school would be cleaner and renovated as it's clear to see the paint coming off the walls as well as the dirt.
The IB program community at Coral Gables is the best! While those outside the program live in their own little world, everybody in the program knows almost everybody else. As for the buildings themselves, they are okay but need some remodeling. Some classrooms are so old they only have one door window... Everybody knows about the "new building". It's got a modern cafeteria, air conditioning, and new paint. It's a good school, most of the teachers there are very chill, except a few that are extremely strict. One of the advantages of going is CAP that has an adviser that guides seniors into the college application process as well as organizes college visits and college fairs for juniors and seniors. The food is not the best, but it's the same as every public school's food in the area so it's okay. They do try to spice it up a little by having bringing a food truck every once in a while and having 4 different places to get food (all of which offer different food choices by the way).
