Regardless of the physical state of the buildings the teachers made the experience worthwhile! Unfortunately, in the state of Florida too much emphasis is put on test scores and the teachers curriculum is held hostage. Too much pressure is put on students in the IB program and while it does prepare one adequately for college the amount of redundant work is unnecessary. The amount of homework was excessive. The start time should be adjusted to after 8:30 am, as adopted in some other states. Expecting a teenager to focus so early is not feasible.

Coral Gables Senior High School has provided me with the best high school experience I could have imagined myself to have. I am currently an IB senior and I feel like I have grown so much as a person and in my academic work as well. I feel more than prepared to go to college and will always hold my head high when speaking of Coral Gables. The teachers are truly amazing they care for you as if you were they child and go beyond and above to ensure you receive the proper education. Coral Gables constantly has school activities through out the year such as Special Olympics, IB Brunch, pep rallies, senior picnic and more! However, I do wish the school would be cleaner and renovated as it's clear to see the paint coming off the walls as well as the dirt.
Coral Gables High, to be a public high school with about 4,000 students, does a really good job in providing all the resources needed for students to maximize their potential. Although I personally experienced many courses in which the school is not very strong at, which is definitely a drawback, Gables's strongest programs have one of the most committed teacher faculties that you will ever encounter. The IB program is given a lot of support at Gables and is the academy that I recommend the most. Although some days in the IB program can get tough (especially in junior year), the bond that it is formed with teachers, counselors, and students it's everlasting and makes Gables a well-rounded school overall.
