From Coral Academy of Science - Las Vegas

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV) is a STEM-focused, college-prep public charter school that gives students in grades K-12 an opportunity to achieve their full potentials. The mission of CASLV is to provide a safe, rigorous college preparatory environment that promotes social responsibility and a culturally diverse community dedicated to becoming lifelong learners bound for success. CASLV started its operation in 2007 at its Tamarus Campus. Four years later, CASLV added a second and third campus, Windmill and Sandy Ridge, respectively. Due to a growing demand for our academic model, CASLV added three more campuses to serve the Centennial Hills area, Nellis Air Force Base in 2016, and the Eastgate campus opened in the fall of 2018. Students apply to our school and a lottery is held annually to determine enrollment. Our collection of schools has a current waiting list that exceeds 5,000 students in grades K-12. CASLV currently serves over 3,500 students across the valley.

Going to Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas is an anomaly when it comes to Clark County’s and Nevada’s scathing education ranking nationwide. The administration are always looking out for the best interests of their students and seek constant communication with faculty and students. The academics at this school have received a 5-star ranking in this review because there is an emphasis on every department for well-rounded success for every student who walks through the school doors. Clubs such as American Red Cross, Key Club, NHS, Glee, and Speech and Debate are huge community partners and seek to better the schooling environment through an emphasis on diversity. I would change, however, the lunch and bathroom facilities as they are often cluttered, dirty, or broken altogether. But, all-in-all, I don’t think I would be as ready for college if I didn’t attend CASLV!

Coral Academy of Science is an excellent academy to be in. With rigor and small class sizes, a student can push himself/herself to his/her limits while receiving as much help as he/she needs. The school is quite diverse, with students and teachers coming from all ethnic and religious backgrounds. The school emphasizes college preparation and is much safer than public schools in the Clark County School District. The one major aspect that the school is lacking in is its athletic department. Otherwise, it is absolutely excellent!
We absolutely love our school! We recommend Coral Academy to any family looking for an involved academic community, dedicated to science education with a strong emphasis on character and integrity. This is not just a school, it truly is a cultural center, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the amazing and diverse families by whom we are privileged enough to be surrounded.
