Coppell Middle School - West Reviews

Some of the classes have about 60-80 students in them, good luck learning anything. Also they rely heavily on iPads that fail to load half the time because of the bad WiFi and all the privacy filters on the iPads. The teachers will throw up a worksheet on the iPad and pretend that they're "teaching". Half the school is Indian so barely any diversity. The administration is very rude and they just sit in their office all day. West used to be a good school in terms of academics, but it has been going downhill for the last couple years because of the terrible teachers they hire.
Since moving to the new building, the student teacher ratio has gone up exponentially. In some classes there are 80 kids. The GT classes aren't reaaaally GT they're 5 gifted children in a class of 40 average students ( what they call "split classes"). They rely heavily on iPads that fail to load half the time. The teachers will throw up a worksheet on the iPad and pretend that they're "teaching". Half the school is Indian so F on diversity. The lunch lines are ridiculously long so I wouldn't bother trying to get something to eat. The administration is very rude as a child was once chastised on the auditorium stage in front of most of the school for something as simple as walking through a section of carpet.
Great school with great diversity. My son has learned many things from west and I am happy that he is going there.

CMSW has really gone downhill. Many of the good teachers left because of the sudden increase in student population. The diversity is lacking as half of the student body is Indian. A few years ago, this was a good school. Now it’s a joke.
At Coppell Middle School West, the teachers are very understanding and prepare the students for the rigorous AP/IB curriculum in high school. The only negative aspect is that there is a large teacher:student ratio where there may not be enough attention given to all students. However, the overall curriculum is challenging and allows the students to choose from a wide variety of topics in order to succeed later on.
