I moved to Cooper City High about 2 years ago and that was when I was a junior. I moved from Everglades High School in Florida. Everglades was a very diverse school and I got along with everyone there so quickly. So, when I had to move, I was afraid of making new friends all over again and I struggled with it a lot at first. In everglades, it was easy to talk to someone but in Cooper, I felt more constricted because of how the kids were. Some of the kids just didn't want to talk or some were already in a group or some just chose to ignore. I was sad because I didn't make any friends but eventually made some. The teachers, faculty members, clubs, and administration was so helpful. Mainly, my counselors, they were the biggest help I could ever receive! It was a wonderful experience with Cooper. As a senior, who didn't get to enjoy the privileges of being Cooper senior, I'm happy that I went to that school or else I wouldn't have met my best friends or had such a great experience.
I love all of the teachers I had, they seem to really care about the students! The cafeteria food could certainly be improved, and I got no assistance whatsoever when it came to applying for college. It's also a big school, so your guidance counselor (who has to write you a letter of rec) doesn't even know who you are. The clubs are great and so are all the staff. The ESE (special needs program) is amazing and so is the arts programs! Sports teams seem to do pretty well (not football but definitely the swim team)
I really enjoy the actual layout of the school and the courses offered. I was able to take a fashion course for the majority of my high school career that made school very enjoyable. In addition, our DECA program is awesome! One thing I believe could be improved are some of the teachers and maybe a way to incorporate more senior activities that are covid friendly to better this horrible situation.
