At Coon Rapids High School, you've always got someone by your side, the teachers and staff are all very supportive and engage well with their students. Everyone I know here is involved in at least one activity of interest and no one is alike, there is something for everybody! The best part about my school, besides the inviting atmosphere and wide variety of courses, is the amount of school spirit. Everyone here is proud to be a Cardinal everyday of the week!
Review Coon Rapids Senior High School
Very short lunches that weren't very high quality and you had to scarf down. A lot of great teachers but also some that were disrespectful towards students. Some student culture issues (There was someone who pooped on the stairs a couple of times? Fist fights, vandalism, ect). Some unfair punishment (Example: a girlfriend was punching and verbally attacking her boyfriend during lunch for at least 5 minutes without anyone doing anything, but once the boyfriend punched once the administration stepped in and expelled the boyfriend but only suspended the girlfriend for 3 days).
The number one thing about Coon Rapids is the school spirit. We may not have the best sports teams, but the crowds are always cheering and supporting one another. The school really emphasizes community and being proud of ourselves. That being said there are a lot of clubs to join and we have a diverse population. The only downside is that students tend to stick with their own groups, which is usually divided by race. This is to be expected at all schools though.
You can have demanding academics if you choose to take advance courses. If you want something easy take regular classes. It's really up to the students to push themselves. In either type of class teachers will be supportive. They are always willing to stay after to work with students.
