I really like how Convent & Stuart Hall has co-ed classes and single-sex classes. Learning in an all-girls environment is different than co-ed classes and it has allowed me to boost my confidence. The fairly low student to teacher ratio allows for a more personal connection with teachers. The campus on Broadway is also a stunning, scenic place to study throughout high school. The school also has many resources (some more explicit than others), but all you need to do is reach out to a teacher!
I am currently a sophomore at Convent. The academics are amazing and I think that aspect of the school is incredibly underrated compared to other Catholic schools in the city. The IB program is such a cool addition to the school and opens up more opportunities for students. The teachers are highly educated and are incredibly helpful. The school also offers a lot of support for students who struggle with health or learning issues. Both campuses are incredibly beautiful, especially the Broadway campus. The big issue I have with the school is the social dynamics and the unfair enforcement of rules. About half of the students in my class came from the lower school. Most of these students are unfriendly and rude. In addition, they seem to have power over the school. They never get dress coded or get in trouble even though they can be very disrespectful. Unless you went to the lower school or have friends who did, good luck making friends. I have a small friend group now but it took a while
I love going to Convent. As someone who was shy in middle school, I learned how to engage in class discussions and share my voice in an all-girls setting for the first two years. My freshman and sophomore year, almost all my classes were single sex, and my junior and senior year are almost all co-ed. I take the IB program, which is rigorous but I am getting an amazing education and I am set up for nothing but success in college and the future. I love all the traditions here, but especially the homecoming football games and the sophomore year trip to Costa Rica. Although admittedly my first couple years here girls were very cliquey, everyone is amazing and matured now and our grade is so close. I also love my friends at Stuart Hall and wouldn't trade them for the world. Because of the small class size, everyone is very close with each other.
My only complaint is the dress code, although it isn't very enforced (not allowed to show shoulders, midriff or wear sweatpants)
