Overall, CCHS is a good school. The teachers and staff are great. Unfortunately the classes at CCHS are not great. There are no available AP classes besides math and science which is unacceptable for a school with such high funding and resources, and unfair to students interested in others topics. There is an immense focus on sports and other activities are often rearranged for sport schedules. The school doesn’t prepare its students enough for collage. Additionally the students are often very privileged and can be rude or mean, and there is little diversity at the school. Finally there is a lot of stress and a lot of kids have anxiety or depression.
CCHS is a very good place to receive an education, with a faculty full of mostly understanding, intelligent teachers. However, the school is marred by poor administration and a homogenous student body. Most students come from wealthy white families, and there is an underbelly of racial and homophobic prejudice and ignorance that the administration would rather cover up than address. A swastika was found in one of the bathrooms, and instead of using this moment as a teaching opportunity, the school closed the bathroom and did not let parents or the community know.
An amazing public school option, teachers are passionate and will work with you, many mental health resources, and guidance counselors starts working with you early on to be on track for college!
