I LOVE CA! As a current day student, I don’t have many regrets about my choice to go CA. The academics are manageable but rigorous, super friendly community, and most teachers really put in an effort to connect with students. CA is centered around common trust basically meaning that we all have trust in each other and put effort to foster a community. With that said, that is the case about 90% of the time. I’ve had a couple negative experiences with teachers and students who simply just don’t adhere to the common trust. For instance, I’ve a couple of teachers who just didn’t put in any effort to support me or my unique learning. Other than those few experiences, I have nothing but positive feedback for CA.
I had a love hate relationship with CA. First, the school pretends to be an arts school but is really a sports school without good sports, with all schedules revolving around athletics. I would give the teachers and the education I received 5/5 Stars. My teachers at CA were some of the smartest, most caring, compassionate people I’ve ever met. The students, however, are a very different story. The students are cliquey, entitled, and coddled. Staff don’t make punishment decisions based off what they think is right, they make the decisions based off how they think Students will react to said decisions. Often a committee of the most popular students (voted on by the students in a popularity contest) will decide the disciplinary actions for their peers, then proceed to tell confidential information about their peers actions to the entire school. Drama runs rampant throughout the school, as does cancel culture. While I loved my teachers, the toxicity of the student body ruined my experience
I loved it! I was a boarder and there was almost always something to do. It is in a great location where you are secluded enough to have your own fun but also a 30-minute train ride from Boston. The teachers are overqualified and highly passionate. The students feed off of the teacher's excitement and are eager in the classroom. It was a somewhat demanding education, but it was only ever as hard as you made it as you basically had full reigns over all your courses and activities. If you were ever struggling academically or mentally there were many resources and people willing to go outside of the community to help you. I think even though it is a prep school you never had to sacrifice any of the fun and new thing of adolescence to succeed academically.
