Many students enrolled are gang-involved but the staff are highly aware of most activities to create a safe environment and are also very helpful. There tend to be many conflicts in this school because of past experiences of the students. The location of the school ensures the safety of the students who attend. The school could use some guidance of higher education and career opportunities outside of school. The college search was especially difficult for me because there was not a college advisor in the school like in the rest of the public schools of the city. Although I did not have a specific college advisor, administrators, teachers and guidance counselors were completely supportive of my college process. I wish there were extra-curricular activities, sports or other opportunities available to students.

I did not feel very prepared for college after graduation because I did not feel that I had enough challenges at my high school. After graduating from this school, I felt like I had a label placed on me that limited me to the opportunities I would have in the future. In high school, I was told that I would not be able to get into college once the colleges realized I was coming from an alternative school. I was happy to prove people wrong when I had to choose from many acceptances from 4 year institutions. My high school definitely prepared me for the real world after graduation. I was fortunate enough to have access to the real world through my experiences in high school. It was definitely a wake up call to watch as my fellow classmates passed away, were arrested and wanted nothing more than to just finish high school. My high school experiences and my schoolmates are the two things that inspire me the most.
The work load was very low because the school is very understanding of the various difficulties that the students have at home or residential program students are living in. The teachers are great! The most popular class is Forensic science.
